The Philadelphia Dance Academy has been performing all around Philadelphia. Coming from a sold out performance at Franklin Square on Mother’s Day, the fun hasn’t stopped for our favorite ballet troope.

On Saturday, May 19th, at the Piazza in Northern Liberties, members of the Philadelphia Youth Ballet will be performing in the Spring event produced by Hipster Henry. The event begins at noon and we suggest that you get there early to grab a seat in front of the stage! After the performance you and your little one can also meet the ballerinas from the Philadelphia Youth Ballet.

Hot off the blogosphere, Be Well Philly wrote the article “I Tried It: Adult Beginner Ballet at Philadelphia Dance Academy“.  This article can be viewed as the beginners guide to becoming a ballerina at any age. Be Well Philly discussed how ballet can make your body become lean and toned, while having fun in the dance studio. Though Philadelphia Dance Academy is finishing up their Spring classes, you should definitely check out their registration for the fall!

Featured South Street Headhouse District neighborhood restaurants include: The Bean Exchange, Bridget Foy’s, Core de Roma, Nomad Pizza, Whole Foods and much more. Prizes have been kindly provided by Moo Tattoo, Radius Fitness, Studio Teknik, Society Hill Playhouse, and Optimal Gym. The fundraiser will take place at the Society Hill Dance Academy from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds will go to our South Street Mini-Station that help keep our neighborhood safe! We hope to see you all there for a night of fun in the South Street Headhouse District.

Art and fashion goes hand in hand. This week InLiquid and SA VA are getting together for a Shopping Party & Fundraiser! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to InLiquid to help support their upcoming programming such as Art for the Cash Poor and CAFe. The Shopping Party will feature the SA VA spring collection which is centered around eternal bloom.  The collection is super feminine featuring soft shapes and wispy fabrics.

After 6 years of bringing Broadway favorites to Philadelphia, A Night of Broadway Stars has become a must see event for Broadway enthusiasts. Attendees can expect to see their beloved thespians belt out fan favorites and show tunes. Rita Harvey, Craig Schulman and Stephanie Block and have all lent their talents to support homeless youth in the past.

The evening will kick off with a cocktail reception, followed by a lively production featuring the Broadway performers. Hosting the show is Neil Berg. Berg is a Broadway lyricist and composer as well as the creator and co-producer of “100 Years of Broadway.” Performances will be interwoven with personal, life stories from the former homeless youth who are successfully transitioning through the Covenant House program. Other highlights of the event include a pre-show reception, silent auction, and a VIP post-show reception where guests will have a chance to mingle with the stars!

This year, Covenant House Pennsylvania will honor Daniel Hilferty, president and CEO of Independence Blue Cross for his continued support of the Covenant House’s mission.  This is the first year that Covenant House Pennsylvania will present an award to an outstanding corporate sponsor.

This year Covenant House Pennsylvania is hoping to raise $500,000 which will provide funding for operational costs, program development, and aid the organization in continuing to lead the Philadelphia region in street outreach services.
