RAKIA REYNOLDS
Since graduating from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, with a degree in International Business and Marketing, Rakia Reynolds has sky-rocketed to success by serving as a “media superwoman” for Philadelphia. She is sought after by companies to provide her expertise in a wealth of subjects and projects like media and art direction, branding and strategic planning, creative development, and producing content for television outlets such as MTV networks, TLC and print outlets such as Lucky magazine. She currently serves as the president of the Philadelphia chapter of Women in Film & Television and the events chair of the National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications. In 2009, she received their Rising Star award, which hails achievements within the communications industry.
She runs Skai Blue Media, a full service PR agency with clients that run the gamut of lifestyle PR from a local politician, various restaurants and boutiques, and the South Street Headhouse District. Her work has resulted in national, local, and regional media placements.
In addition, Rakia is called on by local jewelry and clothing designers as a consultant on how to grow a local business. She is on the pulse of fashion trends, as the Philadelphia 360 Fashion Ambassador, where she covers the latest and greatest in beauty, clothing trends, and hair styling, just to name a few. Rakia also works with the Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation on heightening the exposure of local boutiques and Philadelphia’s shopping scene. MICHELLE CONRON
As the Communications Coordinator for Skai Blue Media, Michelle Conron utilizes her diverse background in public relations, business management, and journalism to execute thoughtful communications plans for her clients. This business strategist turned media maven leads the SBM team and their clients in providing creative development, strategic communications plans, social and digital media management and relevant brand content.
Prior to working for SBM, Michelle developed national publicity and branding campaigns for bestselling authors as an Account Manager for Smith Publicity in New Jersey. Her results driven approach to media relations helped her garner national placements for books ranging in subject areas including self-help, non- fiction, and religious reads.
As the Director of Internal Affairs at American Floors, Inc, a commercial flooring company, Michelle led the company’s executive team by revitalizing operations to drive sales and profits through the economic downturn. In addition she facilitated that company’s charitable efforts including serving on the marketing committee for Variety- The Children’s Charity.
When Michelle is not utilizing her strategic management and media planning skills, she lends her creative pen to multiple publications as a freelance fashion journalist. Michelle is listed in the Top 5 National Style and Fashion Writers for the Examiner, and contributes to CBSPhilly.com, two.one.five Magazine, and Uristocrat.com.
JADE BARNES
Jade Barnes joined Skai Blue Media one week after graduating from Temple University. Her eagerness, ability to wear many hats, and dedicated work ethic led her to begin her career in public relations as soon as she was given her diploma. Not too shabby for someone who has wanted to work in PR since the eighth grade.
At Temple University, Jade was commonly referred to as super girl for her involvement on campus during her undergraduate career. Jade was the President of PRSSA and a founding member of the first student run PR Firm, PRowl Public Relations. Jade was a strategic contributing member to Greek life at Temple University. She acted on the Panhellenic Council Executive Board for three consecutive years and was given an Honorable Mention at the Phi Sigma Sigma National Convention in the summer of 2011.
Jade’s internships included The Trocadero Theatre, Pretty Young Professional (now The Levo League), and Phrequency.com. It was through her internships and work experience that Jade was able to increase her knowledge of events and production, gorilla marketing tactics, and editorial content. In her spare time she is working on a start-up blog to launch in 2012 and volunteers at events for the City of Philadelphia.
